ZKsync Delegation Statement

ZKsync Protocol

Name/ENS:

Alex Hook / alexhook.eth

My reasons for wanting to be a delegate:

As a long-time follower of ZKsync, a seasoned researcher, and an OSS engineer, I see myself as a perfect fit for the role of ZK Nation delegate. My experience as a writer allows me to succinctly summarize proposals and objectively rationalize my voting decisions.

As an individual delegate, I am committed to maintaining an unbiased stance, ensuring that I represent the interests of the ZKsync community without any external influences. This dedication to impartiality is a cornerstone of my approach to the role.

As a full-time crypto enthusiast, I am fully immersed in the community, constantly monitoring its trends and staying attuned to its demands and vision. My extensive time commitment to the area allows my fellow members and I to maintain close, equitable contact, effectively forming an individual collective within the ZK Nation.

Did you delegate to me? If so, feel free to contact me on X or Telegram. We'll get along!

My view on the ZK Credo:

In my magnum opus, "Dr. Dankshard or How I learned to stop worrying and love rollups," I've sharply called optimistic rollups "obsolete" and built the entire article around ZK-centric scaling, essentially pointing at ZK as the only feasible way to scale Web3 to the worldwide Internet levels.

I received a lot of contempt for this vision, but I did not and do not take it back. Being from the third world, I've formed a maximalist outlook and am perfectly aware of the atrocities of totalitarianism. I definitely see optimistic tech as a restrictive technology that hinders interoperability in the area and is incapable of scaling to the levels that will help us change the world.

"Change the world, start with money"—a sentiment shared by Bitcoin maximalists on social media. Expand the "money" to "Finance" and "Internet," and it aligns perfectly with our vision.

In my article "How we can use Ethereum to fight corruption," released shortly after ZK Credo, I've in a similar way explored how modern Web3 tech, and especially ZK, can help people prevent abuse of authority from the officials without giving up their privacy and freedom (and, in fact, returning even more of it!)

Since then, I've changed my views a little. Specifically, I came up with even more ways to restrict the opportunities for abuse of state power. New technologies, such as Worldcoin, Freedom Tool, TLS Notary, and, most notably, ZKsync, can expand the people's power even further. With freedom comes progress, and with progress comes prosperity.

My skills + areas of expertise:

I am a technical writer and researcher at 2077 Collective. Besides that, I also write explainer articles and essays in my personal Mirror.

Before crypto, I was a backend software engineer specializing in Rust, Python, C/C++, a lot of other stacks, and now Solidity. With about five years of experience now, I'm still not giving up my previous specialty. I code open-source projects and experiments in my free time. I've also participated in the ETHGlobal Istanbul hackathon, my first one, shortly after attending zkSync Connect, the first crypto event in my life. You can often notice scripts and various calculations in my articles—they're all on my GitHub!

I specialize in Ethereum, rollup-centric scaling, rollup interoperability, user experience in crypto, and cryptography, which initially drew me to crypto. However, I'm passionate about everything that helps crypto become more efficient, simple, secure, and expressive.

Disclosures/Conflicts:

I occasionally write on behalf of the 2077 Collective, and the views expressed in those works are not my own. Other than that, I am fully independent and do not participate in any other DAOs.

Thank you in advance for your support!
